No. 3 UConn Beats Seton Hall in BIG EAST Opener, 92-65

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Freshman Paige Bueckers scored 25 points as the No. 3 UConn women's basketball team returned to BIG EAST Conference play with a 92-65 win over Seton Hall Tuesday evening in Walsh Gymnasium.
Bueckers shot 11-for-14 from the field and added five assists, four rebounds and two steals. She scored 19 of her 25 points in the second half.
Junior Christyn Williams posted 21 points while fellow junior Olivia Nelson-Ododa tallied her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Aaliyah Edwards has a personal-best 17 points and added eight boards.
UConn was playing its first BIG EAST Conference game since 2013. The Huskies rejoined the league on July 1, 2020.
Williams got off to a quick start with the game's first five points and finished the first quarter with 11. UConn struggled to shoot in the second and took a 38-30 lead into halftime.
Bueckers took over in the third quarter with 15 points on 6-for-6 shooting as UConn outscored Seton Hall 33-17.
Redshirt junior Evina Westbrook and sophomore Anna Makurat each finished with seven assists.
The Huskies have a quick turnaround as they host Creighton (2-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) Thursday at 6:30 p.m. This will be just the second meeting between UConn and Creighton and the first with both programs as members of the BIG EAST. The game will air on SNY and 97-9 ESPN.
