No. 3 Huskies Take on Xavier Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 3 UConn women's basketball team (3-0, 2-0 BIG EAST) competes in its fourth game in eight days as the Huskies host Xavier (3-1, 0-0) Saturday at 1 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. The game will air on SNY and 97-9 ESPN.
UConn posted an 80-47 win over Creighton Thursday in the teams' first meeting as BIG EAST rivals. Junior Olivia Nelson-Ododa shot 9-for-9, including her first career three pointer, to lead UConn with 24 points. Â Junior Christyn Williams (15), sophomore Anna Makurat (12) and freshman Paige Bueckers (11) also scored in double digits.
Xavier is coming off an 88-83 loss to Valparaiso Wednesday. This season, Nia Clark leads Xavier with 15.8 points per game. Head coach Melanie Moore is in her second season.
The Huskies and Bluejays have faced each other just once before, in the 1999 NCAA Tournament Second Round. Â UConn narrowly won, 86-84, off two free throws from freshman Tamika Williams with seven seconds left in the game.
