Huskies Battle SMU in Midweek Tilt

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team, riding a two-game winning streak against first-place teams in the American Conference, travels to Dallas to challenge SMU at Moody Coliseum. The game is set for a 7 p.m. (EDT) tipoff and will be televised by ESPNews.

What to Know
- UConn (13-10 overall, 4-6 AAC), which has won three of its last four, is coming off a 72-71 overtime win over Cincinnati Sunday at Gampel Pavilion.
- The Huskies are led in scoring (14.3) and rebounding (6.4) by senior guard Christian Vital, with freshman guard James Bouknight also averaging in double figures (11.6) and junior Josh Carlton close behind in rebounding (6.3). Redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert is the leader in assists (4.3) and redshirt freshman Akok Akok tops the team in blocked shots (2.8).
- SMU (16-6, 6-4) is coming off a 97-90 overtime loss at Temple on Saturday. Sophomore guard Kendric Davis leads the team in scoring (15.8) and assists (7.3), while sophomore forward Feron Hunt is the team's top rebounder (7.0).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
Next Up
UConn makes its next-to-last appearance of the regular season at the XL Center in Hartford, playing host to Memphis on Sunday, Feb. 16. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by ESPN.
