STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's track and field team will head to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday. The women's competition will begin with running events starting at 11 a.m.
This weekend's competition will be the final tune-up before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship at the end of the month.
"This is a performance meet," said director of cross country and track & field Greg Roy. "Starting to let off the gas with the training a little bit. Our top guys will still be looking at NCAA qualifying in some events. On the men's side, we are in pretty good shape and the same on the women's side, in really good shape. Our oval kids will really be looking to get after it. It's a really, really fast track, one of the fastest in the country, so they will really be looking to open it up.
The Huskies are looking to continue their recent success and carry that momentum into the Hemery Invite and the conference championships.
"We competed really well at New England's, both men and women, and now we go out and see what kind of shape we are in. We know what we are here for. We should be really loose. This is a really fun meet, people coming from all over the place to run here. We'll enjoy it and then we get ready for conference."
