BOSTON, Mass. – The UConn women's track and field team had another great performance at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University. Friday's meet was the final tune-up before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The meet was highlighted by junior Mia Nahom's school record breaking mile time and sophomore Emma Chee's stellar performance in the pole vault.
"Emma [Chee] continuing a great season, winning again today. She had a few struggles today, but was able to win. That's a sign of a champion," said director of track & field and cross country Greg Roy. "Mia [Nahom] put herself on the national list today in the mile, broke her coach's school record in the process. I thought Shauntae in the 200 and Shanelle in the 400 did a really nice job."
The Huskies continued their success after winning the New England Championships with another solid showing at the Valentine Invite. Roy was pleased with the team's performance and their progression this season.
"We had a pretty good day overall, we ran well. The team took a lot of steps toward getting ready for the American championships. Across the board we've made good progress today, and all year really, and a lot of kids indicated that they're ready for conference championships."
