STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's track and field team heads to Birmingham, Alabama for the 2020 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship this weekend.
The Huskies are making their last appearance at the AAC Championship as they move back to the Big East starting next season. UConn took first in the New England Championships earlier this season and will be looking to claim another title. The Huskies last AAC Championship victory came in the 2015-16 season.
"We are pretty excited on the women's side. Everything that has been thrown at them they have handled, embraced and competed well," said director of cross-country and track & field Greg Roy.
"The women's meet will be different the men's side. It is a spread out field and you just don't know what could happen. If we get someone who jumps out and grabs it and runs with it early in the meet, you can get rolling. Which team can get hot can win this thing."
"Mia, I have watched her for two years previous, she's a competitor. She likes to win. She does not like to lose. If you saw here at the New England championship, she was there to win. And when she comes out like that, she is tough, tough to beat. Wherever she is this weekend, she will be in the hunt. She is a winner."
The Birmingham CrossPlex facility will host the conference indoor title meet for the fifth straight season. Fans can watch all the action on the American Digital Network.
