MBB Meets Memphis on Bleed Blue Day

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team finishes the third of seven home-and- home conference series as it plays host to the University of Memphis at the XL Center in Hartford. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by ESPN.

What to Know
Memphis holds a slim 8-7 margin in the all-time series between the schools. UConn lost at Memphis, 70-63, on Feb. 1.
The Huskies (13-11 overall, 4-7 American) are coming off a 79-75 loss at SMU on Wednesday in Dallas, which snapped a two-game winning streak. UConn is led in scoring by senioer Christian Vital (14.2), with freshman James Bouknight also averaging double-figures (12.0). Vital is also tied with junior Josh Carlton for the team lead in rebounding (6.3). Redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert leads in assists (4.2), while redshirt freshman Akok Akok is tops in blocked shots (2.71).
Memphis (17-7, 6-5) is coming off a 92-86 road loss in overtime at Cincinnati on Thursday. Freshman Precious Achiuwa is the Tigers' top scorer (15.0) and rebounder (10.1), while sophomore Alex Lomax hands out the most assists (4.3).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.

UConn makes its shortest away trip among conference opponents, traveling to Philadelphia to meet Temple at the Liacouras Center on Thursday, Feb. 20. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will be televised on ESPN2.
