PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The UConn baseball team dropped the middle game of its series to No. 1/9Â Michigan, 14-2, on Saturday afternoon from practice field #5 at the Mets Spring Training Complex.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead after Kyler Fedko tripled down the right field line on the 10th pitch of his at-bat. His older brother, Christian, followed with an RBI single to put UConn up, 1-0.
It wasn't the Huskies day from that point forward. The Wolverines scored 14 runs on 14 hits including a seven-run frame in the fourth.
Junior Erik Stock was a bright spot for the Huskies, grabbing a pair of hits including a double in his first game in the UConn batting order. The two-way player took the mound in the eighth inning and threw a scoreless frame.
Leif Bigelow made his collegiate debut with 3.2 innings of work.Â
Junior infielder Zach Bushling recorded his first career multi-hit game with a pair of hits in the contest.
Notes
- The loss snapped a three-game win streak against Big Ten opponents for the Huskies. UConn has won eight of its last 10 against Big Ten opposition.
- Kyler Fedko made his first start in centerfield, while Kevin Ferrer made his first start in left field on Friday.
- Erik Stock is the first player to pitch and hit in a game for the Huskies since Kevin Vance (2009-2011).
