MBB Set For Saturday Contest at ECU

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team makes its next-to-last road trip of the regualr season, traveling to Greenville, N.C., to challenge ECU in an American Athletic Conference game. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by ESPNU.

What to Know
- UConn holds an 11-2 advantage in the all-time series between the schools. Saturday is the only regular-season meeting between the teams this year.
- UConn (16-12 overall, 7-8 AAC), which has won its last two games and three of its last four, is coming off an 81-65 home victory over UCF on Wednesday at the XL Center in Hartford.
- The Huskies are led in scoring (15.2), rebounding (6.5) and steals (2.5) by senior guard Christian Vital, while freshman guard James Bouknight is also averaging in double-figures (12.8). Redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert hands out the most assists (3.9).
- ECU (11-18, 5-11) is coming off a 73-68 road loss in overtime at USF on Wednesday. The Pirates are led in scoring (20.1) and rebounding (9.4) by sophomore Jayden Gardner, while freshman Tristen Newton also averages double-figures (10.2) and leads the team in assists (3.6).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
