WHOC Participates in 14th Annual Skating Strides Program

STORRS, Conn. – Earlier this month, the UConn women's hockey team hosted Maine in its annual Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer Game as part of a Hockey East conference-wide initiative.
The UConn women's hockey team – in conjunction with the UConn men's hockey team and women's club hockey program helped raise $6,236.35 between the Silent Auction at the Men's Hockey game on Jan. 7, the Youth Clinic, Chuck-a-Puck contests, hat sales, 50/50 raffle, and donations. All proceeds will be donated to UConn Health.
Now in its fourteenth season, the Hockey East Skating Strides program has raised nearly $400,000 for various breast cancer charities. Skating Strides has also given the student-athletes the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they study and play hockey.
