MBB Closes Regular Season at Tulane

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team, winner of four straight and seven of its last nine games, wraps up the 2019-20 regular season with a trip to New Orleans to face Tulane in an American Athletic Conference game at Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. (EDT) tipoff and will be televised by ESPNU.

What to Know
- The Huskies hold an 8-0 all-time record against Tulane. The Cougars currently own a four-game winning streak over UConn, including a 63-59 win in Houston earlier this season.
- UConn, (18-12 overall, 9-8 American) is coming off a 77-71 upset of #21 Houston on Thursday at Gampel Pavilion.
- The Huskies are led in scoring (16.0), rebounding (6.3) and steals (2.5) by senior guard Christian Vital, who has averaged 23.2 ppg over UConn's last six games. Freshman James Bouknight is also averaging in double figures (13.2), while redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert leads the team in assists (3.8).
- Tulane (12-17, 4-13) has been idle since suffering a 74-67 home loss in overtime to Memphis on Feb. 29. The Green Wave is led in scoring by guard Teshaun Hightower (16.0), with Christion Thompson (13.9) and K.J. Lawson (13.3) also averaging double figures. Thompson is also the team leader in rebounding (6.4) and assists (2.9).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
Next Up
UConn travels to Fort Worth, Texas, for the AAC Championship at Dickies Arena. The Huskies will play in the first round on Thursday, March 12, likely as either the No. 6 seed (10 p.m. game) or the No. 7 seed (8 p.m. game), either one on ESPNU.
