CLINTON, S.C. - Trailing 3-1 entering the ninth inning, the UConn baseball team (7-5) rallied for three runs in their final at bat to stun Presbyterian, 4-3, and sweep the three-game series from the Blue Hose (2-13).
Reggie Crawford got the rally going with a one-out single and Kyler Fedko followed with a fly ball that nearly tied the game but banged up against the left field fence for an RBI double. After a well-earned walk by Paul Gozzo, a wild pitch advanced the tying run and potential go-ahead run into scoring position.
Senior captain Chris Winkel came through with a high chopper to second that brought home Kyler Fedko to tie the game, 3-3.Â
Moments later the Huskies took their first lead of the day on a wild pitch to bring in Gozzo.
Caleb Wurster (1-0) earned the win by throwing two scoreless innings out of the pen.
UConn starting pitcher Colby Dunlop tossed 5.0 innings of work, allowing just one hit, one earned run and struck out four.
Kenneth Haus provided solid relief with two scoreless innings of work in the sixth and seventh.
The Huskies victory brings their season long win streak to four games and will play their first game in the state of Connecticut on Tuesday, March 10 at 3 p.m. at the University of Hartford.
