BOSTON, Mass. – The UConn women's track and field team took second place at the ECAC Championship meet with 59.75 points. Towson took the top spot with 63 points while Albany took third with 58 points.
The championship meet was highlighted by stellar individual performances from sophomore Emma Chee's first place finish in the pole vault and junior Mia Nahom's 3000 meter run victory, and a team effort from the 4x800 meter relay team who finished second overall.
"The women, had a chance heading into those last two relays. Wejust scrapped and fought for every point and it really came down to those two relays," said director of track & field and cross country Greg Roy.
"Mia, just finished the 3,000 and comes back and anchors the 4x800 and did an amazing job, just misses getting the win there.
"I was really impressed with our team. They were really bought in and went out today with such a great attitude. We are starting to become a championship program. We really developed, both teams, this weekend. The dynamic from both our teams was great. Really picking each other up all weekend."
