WHOC Announces 2019-20 Team Award Winners

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team distributed their team awards for the 2019-20 season, as announced by head coach Chris MacKenzie Tuesday afternoon. The honorees, who were voted on by team members, were recognized for their respective performances during the 2019-20 season.

2019-20 Team Awards
MVP – Natalie Snodgrass | Junior | F | Eagan, Minn.
Snodgrass skated in all 39 games and led the team in goals (16) and points (33) for the third consecutive season, while finishing tied for second with 17 assists. The 2019-20 assistant captain and Hockey East Second Team All-Star notched her 100th career point after netting the game-winning goal in Game 3 of the Hockey East Quarterfinals (March 1), becoming just the fifth player in program history to accomplish the feat.
Most Improved Player – Jessie Aney | Grad Student | F | Rochester, Minn.
Aney competed in 30 games for the Huskies, tallying three goals and five assists. After asserting herself as a defensive presence throughout the season, Aney broke through on the offensive end, netting all three of her goals during the final month of the season.
Rookie of the Year – Claire Peterson | Freshman | D | San Jose, Calif.
Peterson turned in a solid freshman campaign skating in all 39 games and accounting for one goal and six assists on the year. Additionally, she finished the season with 11 blocks and had the highest plus/minus on the team – a +10.
Pat Babcock Award – Catherine Crawley | Junior | F | Washingtonville, N.Y.
The Pat Babcock Award, named for the former UConn Division of Athletic Administrator and given to the player who best exemplifies the team on and off the ice, was awarded to Catherine Crawley.
Crawley provided a consistent presence on the ice and in the locker room – Elected an assistant captain for the 2019-20 season, the Washingtonville, N.Y. native skated in all 39 contests and racked up 31 points (15g, 16a) while leading the team with a .161 shot percentage. She will complete her UConn career ranked eighth in points (83), ninth in goals (35) and tied for seventh in assists (48).
Additionally, Crawley also initiated various service projects for student-athletes to take part in throughout the academic year.
Unsung Hero – Danielle Fox | Sophomore | F | Unionville, Ontario
Fox picked up the Unsung Hero Award for the 2019-20 season. In 39 games, Fox accumulated 16 points, with her 10 assists ranking fifth on the team.
