UConn Ready for Prestigious Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - The nationally ranked UConn women's cross country team is headed to the 2021 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational for their final race before the BIG EAST Championship later this month.
The Huskies, ranked No. 26 in this week's USTFCCCA Top-30 national poll, will run in what has become one of the nation's premier collegiate meets. The field for this year's 6k race features 38 teams from across the country, including 19 teams ranked in this week's national poll. The race will feature the top-three ranked teams in the country in NC State, BYU and New Mexico and a pair of ranked BIG EAST teams in Providence (#19) and Villanova (#20) as well as Butler.
The race will be held at Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, which opened in 2009 and is located adjacent to University Ridge Golf Course in Madison. The women's 6K championship race is scheduled for 12:20 pm CT.
The Huskies have been off from race competition since their fourth place finish at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on September 24. A pair of Huskies finished in the top-15 in at the race in freshman Chloe Thomas (Dundas, Ontario) and senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, CT). Thomas led the UConn contingent with a 10th place finish in the highly competitive field, clocking in at 17:44 while Nahom came home 12th overall with a clocking of 17:29.
This Friday's race will be the final tune-up before heading to the BIG EAST Championship hosted by Butler on October 29.
