Huskies Top Creighton in OT

STORRS, Conn. – Freshman Evelyn Arsenault scored her first career goal to put the UConn women's soccer team (7-6-0, 3-3-0 BIG EAST) past Creighton (6-7-2, 0-5-1), 3-2, in overtime Thursday evening at Morrone Stadium.
Arsenault headed in the golden goal at 103:43 as the Huskies won their first game in overtime this season. The winner was assisted by Lucy Cappadona and Sophie McCarthy.
Sophomore Jaydah Bedoya scored twice vs. the Bluejays.
Creighton notched the first goal of the game at 34:16, taking a 1-0 lead to halftime.
Bedoya's first goal came at 67:17 as Cappadona and Jada Konte collected a cross in the box. Bedoya collected the ball and scored with her left foot to the inside corner.
Creighton took a 2-1 lead at 81:36 as the ball deflected off Aida Kardovic as she made accidental contact with the UConn keeper.
UConn pressed in the final eight minutes, taking six shots. Bedoya notched her second goal of the game with just 15 seconds in regulation.
After recording no shots on goal vs. DePaul on Sunday, the Huskies put 15 shots on net. UConn held a 26-6 advantage in shots.
UConn is back in action Sunday vs. Villanova at 1 p.m. at Morrone Stadium. It's Youth Day in Storrs, and kids 12 and under can receive free admission to the game. Click HERE for more info.
