PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 16 UConn field hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime at No. 17 Princeton on Sunday afternoon at Bedford Field.
The Huskies jumped out in front in the second quarter with McKenna Sergi putting home a rebound opportunity for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.Â
Princeton responded in the second half with a game-tying goal late in the third quarter.
The two sides would remain even the rest of regulation to send the game to overtime. The Huskies had a pair of penalty corner opportunities early in the overtime period but were unable to convert.Â
The Tigers put away their game-winning goal at the 67:00 mark to knock the Huskies down to 5-7 on the season.
Cheyenne Sprecher finished the day with nine saves for the Huskies. Â
UConn returns to action on Friday, October 8 at Quinnipiac at 3 p.m.
