Football Travels to Amherst to Take on UMass Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut football team will make the short trip up to Amherst, Mass. to take on UMass on Saturday, October 9. Kick is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast regionally on NESN and live streamed on FloSports.
Saturday's game will be 74th game between the Northeast rivals with the Minutemen leading the overall series 36-35-2. The Huskies last win came against UMass on October 28, 2019 a 56-35 victory, in Amherst. Kevin Mensah ran for 164 yards and five touchdowns in the win.
Sophomore linebacker Jackson Mitchell is t-1st in the country with 61 total tackles and ranks 10th with 10.2 tackles per game.
The Huskies had their first 100-yard rusher and 100-yard receiving game against Vanderbilt. Nate Carter recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game with 123 yards on the ground. Keelan Marion followed suit with his first career 100-yard receiving game that featured a career-high four catches and scored one touchdown.
Steve Krajewski came off the bench for an injured Tyler Phommachanh and put together a career performance. The quarterback tossed for 264 yards and two touchdowns.
The Huskies recorded a pair of interceptions against Wyoming (Lucien, Bell). It was the first time since the ECU game in 2019 that the Huskies registered multiple interceptions in a game.
Brian Brewton recorded a 96-yard kickoff return touchdown in the third quarter against Army. It was the Huskies first kickoff return for a touchdown since Robbie Frey had a 95-yard touchdown return against Oklahoma in the 2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. It was the first UConn specials team's touchdown since Deshonn Foxx had a 72-yard punt return touchdown against Stony Brook in 2014.
