Football Loses at Clemson, 44-7

CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman running back Brian Brewton ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, and totaled 216 all-purpose yards, and the UConn defense held Clemson to just 5-22 on third-down conversions, but Clemson defeated the University of Connecticut football team by a 44-7 count on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.
After Brewton's score gave UConn an early 7-0 lead, Clemson embarked on a 15-play, 34-yard drive that ended in a 49-yard field goal and included three fourth-down conversions.
The UConn defense made another stand on the ensuing drive and looked to hold the Tigers out of the end zone again after forcing an incomplete pass at third and goal. Clemson lined up for a field goal but ran a trick play and ran it into the end zone to take a 10-7 lead that it would not relinquish.
Senior linebacker Omar Fortt and freshman safety Durante Jones led the way with nine tackles, while junior linebacker Tre Wortham added eight. Sophomore linebacker Jackson Mitchell registered seven tackles and forced a fumble for the Huskies.
Freshman wide receiver Aaron Turner caught five passes for 59-yards and Brewton had three catches for 26-yards to go along with 190 yards on three kickoff returns.
UConn is back in action on Saturday, November 20 when the team travels to Orlando, Fla. to take on UCF. Kick is set for 4 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
