Five Huskies Earn All-BIG EAST, Ugo Freshman of the Year

STORRS, Conn. - The BIG EAST Conference revealed its major award winners and All-Conference teams, ahead of this weekend's BIG EAST Championship, on Wednesday morning.
UConn freshman Sophia Ugo captured BIG EAST Freshman of the Year honors and was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
Ugo scored eight goals and provided two assists for the Huskies in her debut season, her eight goals and 18 points both ranked second on the team.
Senior midfielder Abby Gooderham joins Ugo on the All-BIG EAST First Team after playing in all 20 games for the Huskies and contributing two goals and two assists.
Jessica Dembrowski, Cheyenne Sprecher and Claire Jandewerth all earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors.
Jandewerth led the Huskies with 10 goals and 24 points on the year. She scored five goals during BIG EAST play.
Dembrowski tied for the team lead with eight assists while also scoring four goals during her final season in Storrs.
Sprecher led the BIG EAST with 107 saves and has a 1.55 goals against average on the season. She has been a constant for the Huskies in an up-and-down season.
UConn will open BIG EAST Championship play on Friday, November 5 at 4 p.m. against Old Dominion.
