No. 17 UCONN MBB RETURNS HOME TO MEET UMES

HARTFORD, Conn. – Fresh off a third-place finish in the Battle 4 Atlantis, which included two overtime victories, one of them in double-overtime over nationally-ranked Auburn, the No. 17/17 UConn men's basketball team returns home to face Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday night at the XL Center in Hartford. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff (CBS Sports Network).
The Huskies (6-1) and the Hawks (2-4), out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, are meeting for the third time in history, with UConn holding a 2-0 edge.
UConn, 2-0 at the XL Center so far this season, is led in scoring by sophomore forward Adama Sanogo (16.7), who was selected this week as the BIG EAST Player of the Week after his All-Tournament Team performance for the three games in the Bahamas. Sanogo is also averaging 6.9 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and shooting 56.8 percent overall and 89.5 percent from the foul line.
Grad student R.J. Cole is also averaging in double figures (14.9) and leads the team in assists (4.3), while senior Tyrese Martin is averaging 12.9 ppg and is tied with sophomore Andre Jackson for the team lead in rebounding (7.7).
As a team, the Huskies are averaging 87.6 ppg and allowing just 63.0 and they hold a 10.9 per game rebounding advantage over opponents.
Maryland Eastern Shore owns a double-overtime victory over Fordham this season, but is coming off a 73-61 loss at Liberty on Saturday.
The Hawks, playing their fourth consecutive road game, are led in scoring by senior guard Zion Styles (12.5), with junior guard Dom London also in double figures (10.3). Senior forward Nathaniel Pollard Jr. is the team's top rebounder (6.2), while junior guard Da'Shawn Phillip hands out the most assists (3.3).
UConn's No. 17 ranking is the highest for the Huskies since the first week of the 2014-15 season, when they were also ranked No. 17.
