Hockey East Tournament Information
STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's ice hockey team's matchup against Merrimack, which was scheduled for Friday, February 19 in Storrs, has been canceled due to COVID-related issues within Merrimack's program. With all other Hockey East teams either matched up to play each other, or on a COVID-related pause, the Huskies will not compete this weekend.
The team currently stands in sixth place in the Hockey East Power Index and will await its seeding and matchup for the 2021 Hockey East Tournament, which should become clear on Saturday evening.
UConn was originally scheduled to play a two-game series against New Hampshire on Friday and Saturday but COVID-related issues struck the Wildcats' program. An agreement to play one game against Merrimack was reached on Wednesday prior to the revelation of positive test results within the Warriors' program.
The Hockey East Tournament begins on Wednesday, while the top-six seeds receive byes into Sunday's quarterfinal.
