STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (1-0) is scheduled to play its final non-conference contest on Sunday, Feb. 28 against Northeastern at 12 p.m. at Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Sports Complex.
The Huskies are coming off a 2-0 victory in its 2021 spring season opener with Kess Elmore and Lucy Cappadona getting on the scoresheet for UConn. Elmore and goalkeeper Randi Palacios landed on the BIG EAST weekly honor roll with their performances a Sunday ago. Palacios only needed to make one save in a shutout performance, a testament to the Huskies defense and possession throughout the match.
Cappadona and Jada Konte made their first career starts as true freshmen against Rhode Island. Freshmen Jaydah Bedoya and Sofia Weber also made their UConn debuts coming off the bench.Â
17 players saw action for the Huskies in the season opener.
UConn is 2-2 all-time against Northeastern with the last contest coming in August of 2018, a 2-0 loss for the Huskies in Brookline, Mass. to open the season. The last win for the Huskies came in 2016 on the strength of a first half goal from All-American Stephanie Ribiero.
