WASHINGTON, D.C. – The UConn women's soccer team fell to Georgetown in extra time on Thursday afternoon. The Huskies fall to 4-2-1 on the season and 2-2-1 in Big East play while the Hoyas improve to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in conference action.
The Hoyas jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Jenna Menta in the 4th minute. The remainder of the first half was a defensive stalemate, with the shot count being just 2-1 on Georgetown's favor. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Randi Palacios made one save before the break to keep the Huskies only down one. Freshman Jada Konte had UConn's only shot on goal in the first half.
The second half saw the Huskies still trailing 1-0 and being outshot 11-5. An equalizing goal would come for UConn in the 76th minute as sophomore Jacqueline Harnett's shot found the bottom right corner. Harnett's first of the season tied the game late for Huskies, forcing extra time.
Georgetown's Menta would score her second of the game in the 96th minute to win it for the Hoyas.
