HAMDEN, Conn. – Freshman Claire van den Noort scored four goals as the No. 8 UConn field hockey team posted a 7-0 win over Quinnipiac Friday.

Senior Jessica Dembrowski dished out three assists while sophomore Sophie Hamilton had one goal and two assists.

Hamilton got UConn on the board midway through the first quarter with another one of her impressive goals. Hamilton intercepted a pass deep in the QU zone and dribbled past several Bobcats defenders in the circle. She drew Nina Santore out of her position, dribbled nearly all the way to the baseline and still managed to find the back of the net at an almost impossible angle.

The Huskies added a pair of goals less than two-minutes into the second quarter. The first came when Jessica Dembrowski dribbled into the circle off of a restart and centered the ball to van den Noort at point blank range. Van den Noort struck the bouncing ball in midair and ripped it past Santore to give the Huskies a 2-0 edge.

The Dembrowski, van den Noort combo struck again just over a minute later and van den Noort tallied a hat trick when Hamilton once again dribbled down to the end line and dished a centering pass, which van den Noort snuck past the QU keeper.

Van den Noort tallied her fourth goal of the afternoon off a penalty corner just under 10 minutes later with assists from Debrowski and McKenna Sergi.

Sergi finished the scoring for the game at 40:55 with an unassisted tally.

UConn outshot Quinnipiac, 24-1. The Huskies held a 7-0 advantage in corners.

Cheyenne Sprecher picked up her fifth shutout of the season.

The Huskies are back in action Sunday to host Quinnipiac at noon at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
