Huskies Win Third Straight

QUEENS, N.Y. – The UConn women's soccer team (7-2-1, 5-2-1 BE) defeated St. John's University (5-4-1, 2-4-1 BE) by a score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies pick up their third straight win and first road win of the season.
How it Happened
The Huskies and Red Storm played a scoreless first half at Belson Stadium. St. John's held a 4-2 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Randi Palacios made three first half saves.
The deadlock was broken in the 73rd minute when senior Melina Couzis' free kick from 35 yards was tucked away by fellow senior Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky, her second of the season. The Huskies would hold onto the lead and win their first road game of the season. Palacios finished the game with four saves to record her sixth clean sheet of the season.
Senior Yamilee Eveillard and freshman Lucy Cappadona provided several chances offensively for the Huskies with each recording two shots.

UConn will have almost a week off before heading to South Orange, NJ to take on the Seton Hall Pirates (2-7, 1-7 BE) on Saturday, April 3rd. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00am at the Owen T. Carroll Field.
