Huskies Drop 5-2 Decision at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The UConn women's tennis team opened their match with Stony Brook winning the doubles point but came up short in singles play, losing 5-2 to the Seawolves on the road. The Huskies are now 4-3 on the season.
The Huskies continued to play strong doubles, winning the opening point for the sixth-straight match. The No. 1 doubles team of junior Julieanne Bou (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and freshman Leoine Hoppe (Munich, Germany) posted a 6-3 win over Jamie Wei and Sasha Bekirova. The Huskies clinched the opening doubles with a win at No. 3 with sophomore Caroline Cook (Naples, Fla.) and freshman Aleksandra Karamyshev (Ashton, Md.) beating Lizzie Pam and Kristine Theys, 6-2.
UConn got their lone singles win from Karamyshev at No. 5 as she beat Chandrika Joshi, 7-5 and 6-0.
The Huskies are next in action when they play host to Fairfield University on their campus courts on Wednesday, March 31 at 3 pm.
