WHOC Battles No. 1 Northeastern in 2-1 Semifinal Loss

BOSTON - The UConn women's hockey team gave No. 1 Northeastern a battle during Wednesday nights Hockey East semifinal match up, ultimately falling 2-1 to finish out the 2020-21 campaign.
Northeastern scored a shorthanded goal at the 15:22 mark in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and advance to the Hockey East Championship game.
UConn was even with the No. 1 team after Coryn Tormala threw a tough angle try off the pads of the Northeastern goalie and found the back of the net.
The Huskies were narrowly outshot 30-28 and did not commit a penalty all night.
Even after Northeastern retook the lead late in the third, the Huskies came back with multiple opportunities in front of the Northeastern net but were unable to find the equalizer.
Freshman Tia Chan continued her strong freshman campaign with 28 saves in net.
Tormala led the way with four shots with Taylor Wabick and Danielle Fox each notching three shots on goal.
In a year filled with navigating Covid, the Huskies finished 8-9-1 and reached the Hockey East Semifinals.
