Huskies, Wildcats End in Scoreless Draw

VILLANOVA, Penn. – The UConn women's soccer team was held to a scoreless draw against Villanova on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies now sit at 2-1-1 on the year and 0-1-1 in conference play while the Wildcats is now 1-4-1 overall with an 0-1-1 conference mark.
A scoreless first half saw UConn dominate the run of play, controlling the game. The Huskies outshot the Wildcats 7-1 in the first half but could not beat Villanova goalkeeper Megan McClay.
The Huskies continued to apply great pressure on the Villanova goal in the second, but despite 15 shots and six shots on goal, UConn could not break the deadlock in regulation. The game would go to overtime. Extra time saw the Huskies continue to dominate, but still could not find the back of the net. UConn outshot Villanova 4-1 in overtime, bringing the game total shot count to 30-3 on the afternoon. The Huskies had 13 shots on goal while the Wildcats had only three.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Randi Palacios made one save in just over 53 minutes of playing time. Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney made her collegiate debut and made two saves in 56:33 minutes of action for the Huskies. Senior forward Yamilee Eveillard led the team with six shots while freshman forward Jada Konte had four shots for UConn. Nineteen Huskies saw game action on Sunday.
