STORRS, Conn. - The postseason honors continue to roll in for UConn junior Jonny Evans (North Delta, British Columbia) who was named a CCM/AHCA All-American for the 2020-21 season. The nation's top 24 college hockey players were announced tonight on the Hobey Baker Announcement program carried by the NHL Network.
Evans earned a spot on the East Second Team and in doing so becomes the first Husky to garner All-American honors since 1998. He is the eighth player in program history to be named an All-American.
The junior forward put together one of the best seasons by a Husky since UConn joined Hockey East in 2014-15. In 22 games during the regular season, he led the conference in scoring with 28 points and also led the league with 14 goals. He was the winner of the PNC Bank Three Stars award as well as being the league's scoring champion and also became the first UConn player to be named a Hockey East First All-Star. Evans was also a finalist for the Hockey East Player of the Year award as well as being a Hobey Baker candidate. Â
Evans joins these former Huskies on the program's All-American list: 1998 - Erick Linkowski (2nd Team); 1996 - Ryan Equale (1st Team); 1995 - Bryan Quinn (2nd Team); 1993 - Chris Potter (2nd Team); 1992 - Bryan Krygier (1st Team); 1991 - Bryan Krygier (2nd Team); 1988 - Todd Krygier (1st Team); 1987 - Todd Krygier (2nd Team); 1986 - Harry Geary (2nd Team)
