BSB Evens Series at Villanova, 9-4

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - The UConn baseball team (24-16, 8-4 BIG EAST) scored seven two-out runs to defeat Villanova, 9-4, on Saturday afternoon at the Villanova Ballpark.
UConn third baseman Chris Brown put the Huskies on the board with a two-run single in the second inning and followed it up with a two-run homer in the fourth to give the Huskies a 4-2 advantage.
Ben Casparius earned his sixth win of the season with 6.2 innings of work, the right-hander stranded runners at first and third with one out in the second to keep the game tied at 2.
The Westport, Conn. native struck out seven and did not walk a batter while making a pair of great defensive plays in the fifth inning.
Chris Winkel unloaded on a three-run homer, his team leading 10th of the season, to give UConn a 7-4 lead in the sixth.
Erik Stock continued to swing a hot bat with three hits on Saturday, giving him seven in the series. The UConn left fielder smoked a two-run homer in the ninth to give UConn extra cushion.
The Huskies force a rubber game on Sunday at 12 p.m. and will hand the ball to Pat Gallagher.
