UConn Volleyball Welcomes Transfer McKayla Wuensch

STORRS, Conn. – UConn volleyball head coach Ellen Herman-Kimball announced the addition of graduate transfer McKayla Wuensch on Friday.
"We are excited to add McKayla to our already established group," Herman-Kimball said. "Her personality, her will and competitive drive to win, her leadership skills and her court experience will be nothing short of a great addition to the program!"
A 5-foot-9 setter from Algonquin, Ill., Wuensch played the last two seasons at Wichita State. As a senior in 2020-21, she averaged 5.13 assists and 2.16 digs per set while playing in all 17 matches.
As a junior in 2019, Wuensch notched a team-high 434 assists and 19 service aces in 22 matches while also averaging 2.00 digs per set. She also had a team-high seven double-doubles.
Wuensch played her first two seasons at Nevada, where she totaled 405 assists, 105 digs and 16 service aces.
She was a three-year letterwinner at Marian Central Catholic High School, helping the team to the 2015 3A State Championship. Wuensch was named a PrepVolleyball and MaxPreps All-American as a junior and senior.
Wuensch is the daughter of Maribeth and Jeff Wuensch. She has four older siblings.
