Huskies Announce 2021 Team Awards

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey team handed out their team awards for the 2020-21 season on Monday. Here is a look at this year's award winners:
Thomas J. Jacquard Award
Thomas Jacquard was a UConn hockey freshman in 1989 when he was involved in a fatal car accident while on his way home for Thanksgiving break. This award was created in his honor to recognize the freshmen athlete who has performed exceptionally well on the ice and has exemplified UConn Hockey off the ice. This year's award was given to freshman forward Hudson Schandor (North Vancouver, British Columbia). Schandor led all Husky freshmen in scoring with six goals and eight assists for 14 points over 22 games. He had two game-winners and blocked 18 shots. He finished +2 for the season. He finished the year tied for fifth among Hockey East rookies in scoring. .

Team MVP
The Most Valuable Player recognized the player who has provided the most for his team this season. The 2020-21 Team MVP is awarded to junior Jonny Evans (North Delta, British Columbia). Evans became the first Husky since 1998 to become a CCM/AHCA All-American when he was named to the second team last month.  In 23 games, he finished with 29 points and led the league with 14 goals. Over 22 regular season games, Evans led the team in scoring and was also the winner of the PNC Bank Three Stars award. He also became the first UConn player to be named a Hockey East First All-Star. Evans was also a finalist for the Hockey East Player of the Year award as well as being a Hobey Baker candidate. Â
Seventh Player Award
The 7th Player is the man that every player would like to have by his side on the ice. He is voted on by his teammates as the athlete who has consistently performed above and beyond the call of duty. The winner of the 2020-21 7th Player Award is senior Zac Robbins (Glenview, Ill.). The senior forward was named an alternate captain for the 2020-21 season. Robbins played in all 23 games his final season in Storrs and finished with a pair of assists. Over his career, Robbins appeared in 112 games, had five goals, 10 assists and 15 points.Â
Silver Bowl Award
Each year the Silver Bowl is awarded to the senior athlete who has exemplified what it means to be a Husky on and off the ice for his four years here. This year's winner, as voted on by his teammates is senior Adam Karashik (Ridgefield, Conn.). The senior defenseman wore a letter for the second-straight season serving as the team's captain in 2020-21. He played in all 23 games this season and had his best offensive season as a Husky with nine points on a goal and eight assists. He had 33 blocked shots on the year, tied for seventh in Hockey East. He finished his career with 119 games played with 24 points on five goals and 19 assists and 180 blocked shots over his four seasons.
Coach John Chapman Award
The Coach John Chapman award is given to the member of the program who has demonstrated what it means to be a leader. He continually made sacrifices for the team; always putting them first. This student-athlete is one who has consistently risen to any challenge, and has graciously accepted any task asked of him. The winner is chosen by the coaching staff and the 2020-21 recipients of the Coach John Chapman award are sophomore Roman Kinal (Waterford, Mich.) and junior John Wojciechowski (Mamaroneck, N.Y.)
