WHOC Announces 2020-21 Team Awards

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team have announced their team awards for the 2020-21 season. The honorees, who were voted on by team members, were recognized for their respective performances during a 2020-2021 season that was unlike any other.

2020-21 Team Awards
MVP – Savannah Bouzide
Savannah Bouzide tied for the team lead with six goals and led the team with 15 points during her senior season in Storrs. The Amherstburg, Ontario native burst onto the scene with five goals in the first four games of the season. Bouzide finished her UConn career with 22 goals, 26 assists and 48 points in 128 career games.
Most Improved Player – Coryn Tormala
The sophomore contributed one goals and two assists during the 2020-21 season including a goal against No. 1 Northeastern in the Hockey East Playoffs. The Sussex, Wisc. native chipped in assists in back-to-back games against Vermont and New Hampshire.
Rookie of the Year – Tia Chan
Chan earned Pro Ambitions Hockey East All-Rookie team honors after going 4-5-1 with 1.49 GAA and a .947 save percentage. The Hamilton, Ontario native made 267 saves including a career-high 40 saves at Boston College on January 25. The freshman had three games this season with 30 saves or more.
Unsung Hero – Viki Harkness
Harkness finished her junior campaign with four goals, 11 assists and 15 points on the season. The UConn forward ended the season strong with a goal and four assists in the final five games of the season. One of her goals came against Boston College in a 5-1 win in the Hockey East Quarterfinals.
Pat Babcock Award – Emily Reid & Viki Harkness
Emily Reid closes her UConn career playing in 133 career games and the defenseman contributed five goals and 17 assists during her time in Storrs. The fifth-year senior had three assists during the 2020-21 season.
