Last Time Out…
The Huskies are coming off a series win against St. John's after winning two of three. UConn swept the Saturday doubleheader and did so in completely different fashions. The team grinded out a tight, but thrilling 4-3 win in walk-off fashion in the opening game of the afternoon, then followed that up by run-ruling the Red Storm, 9-1, in five innings. St. John's posted a 6-2 victory Sunday to avoid a series sweep.
UConn Notes…
- UConn ranks 7th in the NCAA and first in the BIG EAST in stolen bases/game with an average of 2.31 per contest (74-of-88) overall on bag swipes. Individually, the Huskies are paced by Aziah James (16, 1st in BE), Briana Marcelino and Reese Guevarra are tied for second with 13 thefts apiece. Hollis Wivell is the fourth Husky to have double-digit stolen bases with a dozen. Additionally, the Huskies' 140 runs scored and 121 RBI rank third in the conference while their 29 homeruns are second to only Villanova.
- Freshman pitcher Payton Kinney (2.55 ERA) is first in the league in opposing batting average (.201), second in innings pitched (100.1). She also ranks third with 103 strikeouts. The pitching trio of Kinney, Meghan O'Neil (3.44 ERA, 95.2 innings (3rd in BE)), and Marybeth Olson (2.68 ERA, 15.2 innings) have combined to limit opposing hitters to a .242 batting average and a 3.10 ERA, both second in the conference, respectively.

Scouting the Pirates…
- Seton Hall was victorious in a thrilling 10-inning matchup with Villanova on Sunday after being down to their last out in three different innings. Janae Barracato and Hailey Arteaga led the Pirates with four hits apiece. Baylee Allender and Darby Pandolfo notched home runs and Kelsey Carr doubled three times, driving in three runs in the process before scoring the winning run on a wild pitch in the tenth.
- Carr was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after going 3-for-5 at the plate with three doubles and three runs batted in on Sunday. Carr also came around to score the winning run on a wild pitch in the tenth inning to finally put the Pirates over the Wildcats in a back-and-forth game. It is Carr's second time winning the award after she did so on March 8.
- Barracato had herself a historic weekend as she hit .545 at the plate over the three-game series with Villanova to earn a spot on the conference's Weekly Honor Roll. With her second double of the weekend, Barracato broke the all-time program record for two-baggers with her 49th double in her career.
All-Time Series…
UConn leads the all-time series, 38-16. Seton Hall won the last matchup between the schools back in 2013.
