Twelve Huskies Earn a Spot on Hockey East All-Academic Team

STORRS, Conn. – The Hockey East Association announced their annual academic awards with 12 Huskies selected to the 2020-21 All-Academic team.
Hockey East announced that a record 187 male student-athletes earned the honor this season. Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during which he was actively competing.
Of the 12 Huskies selected, five student-athletes earned the honor for a second time or better. Recent graduates Zac Robbins (Glenview, Ill.) and Bradley Stone (London, England) topped the UConn list. Robbins earned the honor for the second time while Stone is one of 18 players to reach "Distinguished Scholar" status in 2020-21, having qualified for the All-Academic team in each of four seasons of varsity play.
Rising seniors Carter Turnbull (Nanianmo, British Columbia) and Ryan Wheeler (Lancaster, N.Y.) are in a group of 34 players in the league that are three-time honorees. Yan Kuznetsov (Murmansk, Russia) earned the honor for the second-straight season.
First time honorees included rising senior Jonny Evans (North Delta, British Columbia), Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic), and rising sophomores Cassidy Bowes (Sturgeon County, Alberta), Gavin Puskar (Farmington, Conn.), Hudson Schandor (North Vancouver, British Columbia), Matt Pasquale (North Reading, Mass.) and Artem Shlaine (Moscow, Russia).
