Casparius Drafted by LA Dodgers in MLB Draft 5th Round

DENVER - UConn starting pitcher Ben Casparius was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft on Monday afternoon.Â
Casparius is the 10th player under head coach Jim Penders to be selected in the top five rounds of the MLB Draft.
Casparius earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors and pitched his way onto the  BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament team with a dazzling 7.0 shutout inning performance vs. Creighton. He finished second in UConn single-season history with 127 strikeouts and ranked No. 12 in the country in strikeouts. He led the Huskies and BIG EAST Conference in starts (15), wins (8), innings pitched (91.2) and strikeouts (127).
The right-hander also received ABCA First Team All-Region honors in his first and only season pitching for the Huskies. Â
