Sprecher NFHCA & BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - UConn field hockey goalkeeper Cheyenne Sprecher earned both NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week honors along with BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after securing a pair of shutouts against No. 19 Old Dominion and No. 13 Harvard.

Sprecher's two-shutout weekend included four saves in each game. In goal during the shootout against the Crimson, Sprecher defended four attempts at her net, allowing just the first strokeoff goal to score. UConn defeated Harvard 2-1 in the shootout victory.

The redshirt junior has made 49 saves on the season and secured three shutout victories.

The Huskies return to action on Friday at 3 p.m. at No. 13 Liberty.
