The Huskies continued to pressure the DePaul defense and were able to break through in the 32nd minute. Freshman Guillaume Vacter scored his first career goal with a shot that found the bottom right corner of the net. Fellow freshman Mateo Leveque picked up an assist on Vacter's tally. UConn and DePaul would enter the half level at 1-1.
In the second half, the Huskies and Blue Demons battled in the middle third of the field, with neither team creating a dangerous chance on goal in the opening 15 minutes. UConn was able to limit DePaul's chances, allowing just three shots throughout the game. Sophomore Ben Awashie had a great chance to put UConn ahead in the 72nd minute, but the acrobatic effort was saved. In the 80th minute, graduate student Jahmali Waite made an incredible diving effort to keep the Huskies level, however, the ball had crossed the line and DePaul would take a 2-1 lead late in the half. The Huskies could not find a late equalizer.
