Huskies Host St. John’s Saturday Night

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (4-3, 0-2 Big East) begins a four-game home stretch on Saturday, October 2nd when St. John's comes to Storrs. The Huskies and Red Storm are slated to kick off at 7:00pm at Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Family Sports Complex.

UConn returns to the pitch after falling to DePaul in Big East action last Saturday afternoon. Freshman Guillaume Vacter scored the only goal for the Huskies, the first of his career. Fellow freshman Mateo Leveque picked up his second assist of the season on Vacter's tally.
Scouting the Red Storm
St. John's sits at 7-2 on the season with a 2-0 mark in conference play, beating Xavier (1-0) and Creighton (2-0) in Big East play. The Red Storm enter Saturday on a six-game win streak, most recently defeating Princeton 1-0 on Tuesday night. Brandon Knapp leads the way with three goals and four assists for 10 points through nine games this season. Nine other players have recorded at least a point thus far.

UConn holds a 14-17-5 overall record against St. John's, with a 12-7-1 mark at home. These two teams met twice in the shortened spring 2021 season, where the Red Storm took both meetings, 1-0 (3/3/21) and 2-0 (3/20/21). The Huskies have not beaten SJU since 2012, a 3-0 win at Morrone Stadium.
