No. 10 UConn Hosts Xavier for Pride Game

STORRS, Conn. – The 10th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (8-3, 3-0 BIG EAST) returns to the XL Center for the first time since November to host Xavier (6-8, 1-4) on Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network.
Beginning with Saturday's game, all attendees to UConn athletic contests will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. For more information on the policy, click HERE.
UConn women's basketball will host its first-ever Pride Game on Saturday to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. The Huskies will wear Pride shooting shirts, which are available for purchase HERE.
The Huskies are coming off their most complete game of the season, a 92-47 win over Butler Wednesday. Senior Christyn Williams posted 19 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and four assists while senior Olivia Nelson-Ododa had 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. UConn made 19 steals in the game and scored 43 points off turnovers.
UConn is 3-0 all-time vs. Xavier. The teams faced off twice last season: a 106-59 UConn win in Storrs on Dec. 19, 2020 and an 83-32 UConn win on Feb. 20, 2021, in Cincinnati. Christyn Williams averaged 23.0 points per game vs. the Musketeers last season.
Xavier is coming off a 54-49 loss to Providence last Tuesday. Mackayla Scarlett led the Musketeers with 17 points in the game. This season, Nia Clark leads Xavier with 14.1 points per game. Head coach Melanie Moore is in her third season at Xavier.
