- The UConn Huskies are back at home in the XL Center this weekend as they host the New Hampshire Wildcats for a pair of Hockey East matchups on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Saturday's game will be available to watch on NESNplus.
- The Huskies and Wildcats will face-off three times this season. After this weekend's series, UConn will head up to the Whittemore Center on Saturday, February 5. Both UConn and UNH received votes in this week's DCU/USCHO Top-20 National Poll.Â
- UNH holds a 16-11-1 edge in the all-time series. The Wildcats won the first 14 meetings between the two schools dating back to the 1960-61 season but since the Huskies are 11-2-1. Since joining Hockey East and under head coach Mike Cavanaugh, UConn is 11-6-1 in the series, including a first-round playoff loss to UNH in 2015. UConn is 4-1-1 against UNH at the XL Center.
- The Huskies enter the weekend off a 2-1 overtime loss at home to Boston University last Friday night. The loss dropped the Huskies to 6-5-0 in Hockey East and they open the weekend set with 18 points in the standings, tied for seventh overall with Merrimack. UNH comes in with 15 points and in ninth place.
- In last Friday's loss to BU, the Huskies were shutout over the first two periods before tying the game up with seven minutes left as freshman Chase Bradley scored his second of the season. BU won it in overtime off the opening face-off as Jay O'Brien finished off a 2-on-1 chance to deal the Huskies a 2-1 loss.Â
- Hockey East announced on Monday that Chase Bradley has been suspended for one game stemming from an incident at 5:38 of the first period on Friday, January 14 against Boston University. Bradley will miss the game on Friday, January 21 against New Hampshire and will be eligible to return to the Huskies' lineup on Saturday, January 22, against the Wildcats.
- Senior Jachym Kondelik and sophomore Ryan Tverberg share the team lead in scoring, both with 17 points on the season. Both are also candidates for the 2022 Hobey Baker Award. Fan voting is open now and will run through March 6. Fans can vote daily by visiting HobeyBaker.com/vote.
- Kondelik is on a four-game point streak (3g/2a), the third time this season he has strung together a streak of four-straight games with a point. He has six goals and 11 assists and is a +8 on the year. He leads the team with three power play goals. He is tied for 13th in Hockey East in scoring and his six goals is tied for 21st and his 11 assists, tied for 11th.Â
- Kondelik is the Huskies leading active career point leader at 88 points (22g/66a). He has moved up to 11th on the Huskies Division I career points list and is a point away from entering the top-10. His 66 career assists is fourth on the Division I all-time list, five away from tying the school record (71 - Sean Ambrosie 2009-13).
- Tverberg has a team-best nine goals with eight assists on the year. He is a +7 on the season with five multi-point games and had a five-game goal scoring streak as well. He is tied for 13th in Hockey East in scoring and his nine goals is tied for eighth.
- UConn grad student goaltender Darion Hanson, who transferred in this season from Union, and has started 17 of the 18 games. On the season, he owns a 2.58 goals against average and a .913 save percentage, eighth and seventh among league leaders in both categories. He has played the fifth most minutes in Hockey East and has 464 saves on the season, fifth best.
- Senior Marc Gatcomb and junior Vladislav Firstov all have five goals on the season, tied for 28th among league leaders. Gatcomb's 13 points sets a new season-high mark.

January 1, 2021 @ Whittemore Center - W, 2-1
- UConn got a pair of goals by defensemen Roman Kinal and John Spetz and 30 saves from junior Tomas Vomacka to go on the road and grab a 2-1 win at New Hampshire in the first of four meetings last season. UNH scored on the power play and finished 1-for-4 on the day. Kalle Eriksson gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead late in the first period but UConn's Spetz tied it in the second and Kinal got the game-winner early in the third. Goaltender Mike Robinson stopped 31 shots in the loss.
January 2, 2021 @ Freitas Ice Forum - L, 2-1 ot
- UNH's Jackson Pierson scored the game tying goal in the third period and then the overtime game-winner to deal the Huskies a 2-1 loss in Storrs. UConn got their first power play goal in four games as junior Marc Gatcomb gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the second period. UConn finished 1-for-3 on the power play and held a 37-33 shot edge in the loss. Junior goaltender Tomas Vomacka stopped 31 shots on the night.
January 15, 2021 @ Freitas Ice Forum - W, 6-5 ot
- Junior Carter Turnbull scored the overtime game-winner to complete a hat-trick and deliver UConn a 6-5 win over visiting New Hampshire. Turnbull scored twice in the first period and then buried the game-winner 57 seconds into the overtime to record the first hat-trick of his UConn career. Sophomore Vladislav Firtsov had a four-point afternoon, scoring twice and assisting on two others. UConn built a 5-3 lead into the third period before a late push by UNH to tie the game up. For UNH, Ryan Verrier had a goal and an assist on the Filip Engaras game-tying goal. Jackson Pierson and Lucas Herrmann each finished with a goal and an assist as well. Goaltender Mike Robinson had 28 saves.
January 16, 2021 @ Whittemore Center - W, 6-5 ot
- UConn junior Jonny Evans and freshman Hudson Schandor both scored twice to fuel an 8-3 win at UNH. The Huskies put eight-goals on the board for the first time since the 2017-18 season and scored four times on the power play to come away with a weekend sweep. UConn finished the night 4-of-7 on the power play, their first time netting four on the power play since a 5-2 win over Boston University on October 27, 2015. The Huskies held a 31-24 edge on shots and junior goaltender Tomas Vomacka stopped 21 shots to get the win. Sophomore Jake Flynn dished out a career-high three assists on the night.
