STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (7-6-1, 3-4 BIG EAST) lost 2-0 to the Butler Bulldogs (7-7-1, 4-3 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Morrone Stadium.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Huskies in the first half with a goal at the 11:08 mark from Abigail Isger and then got an own goal five and a half minutes later to take the two-goal lead.Â
The Huskies outshot the Bulldogs 14-11 including a 6-2 edge in shots in the second half.Â
Jada Konte almost gave UConn a lead at 4:26 into the match as she cut inside the box but her shot was saved by the Butler keeper.Â
It was Konte again who had an opportunity to cut into the two-goal deficit with a pair of chances off the corner kick. Konte's initial try off a Jackie Harnett service was denied before her follow up chance pushed wide of goal.
In the 70th minute, freshman Maddie Carroll received a great through ball and used her speed to a create a one-on-one with the keeper. She wound up just outside the box but her shot was knocked away.Â
Emma Zaccagnini and Jaydah Bedoya also added opportunities that just sailed over the bar.
Next up, the Huskies play their last road game of the regular season with a trip to Villanova on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m.
