Huskies Set For Big East Battle vs. Providence

STORRS, Conn. - Â The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team is set for a midweek matchup against Providence College. The game is set to begin Wednesday at 7:00pm.
UConn enters the matchup against the Friars posting a 9-10 overall record and a 3-5 record in conference play. The Huskies are coming off a 2-0 week which included wins over Villanova and Georgetown. In the two games, the Huskies dropped only one set in their two games.
Leading the way for the Huskies is senior Caylee Parker. Parker currently leads the team with 228 total kills and is averaging 3.17 kills per set. In addition to Parker, the Huskies are led by Jasmin Davis with 205 kills, and Madi Whitmire with 697 assists.
Scouting the Friars
Providence enters the matchup with the Huskies posting a 10-10 overall record and a 2-6 record in conference play. The Friars are coming off a 1-1 week in which they beat Georgetown University in five sets and fell to Villanova in four sets.
Leading the way for Providence is Shaliyah Rhoden and Brielle Mullally who both have 200 total kills on the year. In addition to Rhoden and Mullally, Providence has Sammie Ruggles who has 479 total assists. In addition to leading the team in kills, Mullally is second on the Friars with 250 total assists.
UConn and Providence have played four matches in the team's history with both teams winning two. The last matchup between the Friars and Huskies was October 14, 2021, which resulted in a 3-1 victory for UConn. In the match, Kennadie Jake-Turner posted 15 kills on a .375 hitting percentage.
