Huskies Ready For BIG EAST Battle

STORRS, Conn. - Â The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team is set for a BIG EAST battle as they will welcome Creighton and Xavier Friday and Saturday.
The Huskies will kick off the weekend with their Bleed Blue game against Creighton Friday October 7. The game is set to being at 6:30pm. UConn is coming off an 0-2 weekend in which they fell in three sets to Marquette and four sets to DePaul.
The Huskies are led by senior Caylee Parker with 170 total kills and senior Jasmine Davis with 162 total kills. Both Parker and Davis are averaging three kills per set, and average close to four points per set. In addition, Parker and Davis are accompanied by senior Madi Whitmire who has 536 total assists and is averaging nine assists per set.
Scouting Creighton
Creighton enters the matchup vs. UConn posting an 12-3 overall record and a 4-0 record in BIG EAST action. The Blue Jays last matchup resulted in a 3-0 sweep of Butler University. Creighton is led by Norah Sis. Sis has 221 total kills and is averaging four kills per set. In addition, Creighton is led by setter Kendra Wait who has 629 total assists.
UConn and Creighton have faced off three times with UConn winning two of those matches. The last matchup was October 16 in Storrs, where the Huskies upset no.14 Creighton in five sets.
Scouting Xavier
Xavier enters the matchup against the Huskies posting an 10-4 overall record, and a 3-1 record in BIG EAST action. The Musketeers are coming off a 1-1 weekend in which they fell to no.21 Creighton followed by a five-set victory over Butler University. Xavier is led by Brooklyn Cink who has scored 182 total points on the season and has 163 total kills. Accompanying Cink atop the Xavier leaderboard is Carrigan O'Reilly who is averaging 433 total assists.
UConn and Xavier have faced off two times with the Huskies winning both games. The last matchup between the Huskies and Musketeers resulted in a thrilling five set victory for UConn on November 19,2021.
