No. 15 UConn Falls at Home to No. 3 Northeastern

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 3 Northeastern Huskies scored four unanswered goals on the way to a 4-1 win over the No. 15 UConn Huskies at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum Saturday afternoon to earn a weekend Hockey East sweep.
Northeastern (4-0-0, 2-0-0 HEA) got a pair of goals and an assist from senior Katy Knoll to lead the Huskies to a four-point weekend. NU held a 41-17 edge on shots in the win.
UConn (4-2-0, 0-2-0 HEA) got on the scoreboard first as senior Camryn Wong (Vancouver, British Columbia) entered the zone and took a drop pass from Jada Habisch (Buffalo, Minn.) in the high slot and buried one top-left corner for her second on the year and a 1-0 lead at 4:11.
Northeastern matched at the 14:59 as Maureen Murphy put away a feed from Maude Poulin-Labelle to send the game to the first break tied at 1-1. NU dominated the second period and put three on the board, two from Knoll. Sophomore Taze Thompson provided the game-winner at 1:09 of the second and Knoll followed with two late in the period. The senior got a tip redirect off a Skylar Irving shot at 16:08 and put in a rebound at 18:55 to produce the final 4-1 score. Â
UConn goaltender Tia Chan (Hamilton, Ontario) turned in 37 saves in the loss. NU goaltender Gwyneth Philips stopped 16 shots to earn the win.
The Huskies are back in action next weekend with a pair of games at Vermont on October 14 and 15.
