UConn Takes Down DePaul

Storrs, Conn. - The women's volleyball team took a three-set victory against DePaul Saturday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 15-11 overall and 9-6 in Big East action.Â
In the first set, UConn would begin with a string of solid set-ups and blocks to take a 12-9 lead. After the DePaul timeout, the Huskies would continue to create dominating attacks and up the score to 18-13. Caylee Parker would end the set with one of her 16 kills on the afternoon to take the first set, 25-20.Â
UConn would carry the momentum from the first set into the second starting out on a 5-0 scoring run. The Huskies would continue to create opportunities from their blocks to their kills. Many of the set-ups from UConn would involve Madi Whitmire. Whitmire finished the game with 39 assists, nine digs, and two blocks. UConn would go on to take the second set, 25-23.Â
Similar performances in the first two sets would play out in the third set. UConn would take a commanding lead right before DePaul's timeout at 12-4. As the third set rolled on, DePaul's outside hitter, Jill Pressly, would compete with Parker with kills as Pressly finished with 16 kills and 12 digs. Pressly would help DePaul stay in the set by tying it up 24-24 after being down 24-20. UConn would be able to pull it out, win in three sets, and take the third set 29-27.Â

The Huskies will look to sweep in the Big East battle this weekend at home. They face Marquette on Sunday Nov. 13 at 1 PM ahead of senior day. The game can be streamed live on Flo Sports.Â
