HARTFORD, CT -Â Boston University scored all three of the teams' goals in the second period to come away with a 3-2 decision Sunday afternoon at the XL Center.Â
UConn opened the scoring in the first period as former Terrier Ty Amonte crashed the net and put home a rebound to give the Huskies the 1-0 lead. Freshman Arsenii Sergeev made timely saves finishing with 13 saves in the period to blank Boston University as UConn carried the 1-0 lead into the second period.Â
Following penalties by both teams to start the second period, Boston University found the equalizer five minutes into the period while playing four on four hockey as Ty Gallagher was able to fire a shot past freshman Arsenii Sergeev. Boston University would tack on two more goals late in the period to take the 3-1 lead. BU netminder Drew Commesso made seven saves in the second period to keep the Huskies at bay.Â
In the third period, Commesso and the Terriers defense continued to blank the Huskies as UConn was unable to generate any scoring chances. While on the penalty kill, sophomore Chase Bradley was left open for a break away, but a sprawling glove save by Commesso preserved the two-goal lead. With time running down, UConn pulled freshman Arsenii Sergeev in favor of an extra skater. The move eventually paid off as freshman Matthew Wood redirected a puck past Commesso to cut the BU lead to one. The Huskies were unable to net the equalizer as Drew Commesso made 28 saves, and Boston University would come away with the 3-2 victory.Â
