No. 7 Huskies Host St. John’s Friday

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's basketball team (20-5, 14-1 BIG EAST) plays its final XL Center game of the season vs. St. John's (11-16, 7-10) Friday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network.
Reigning National Player of the Year Paige Bueckers will play for the first time since Dec. 5 when UConn takes on St. John's Friday. Bueckers underwent surgery to repair an anterior tibial plateau fracture and lateral meniscus tear on Dec. 13.
UConn beat Marquette, 69-38, Wednesday evening in the XL Center. Redshirt senior Evina Westbrook came off the bench and tied her season high with 17 points. Senior Olivia Nelson-Ododa returned to the starting lineup and notched 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and three blocks.
The Huskies won the 2021-22 BIG EAST Regular Season Championship with the victory over Marquette. UConn will be the No. 1-seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament. UConn has won 28 total conference regular season championships, including the last nine straight.
UConn is 45-17 all-time vs. St. John's. On Jan. 23, Caroline Ducharme scored 28 points to lead UConn past St. John's in Queens, 75-57. Olivia Nelson-Ododa had 18 rebounds and 10 assists.
St. John's is coming off a 68-62 overtime win vs. Providence last Sunday. Camreé Clegg scored 23 points in the game while Leilani Correa had 20. This season, Correa is averaging 17.8 points per game to lead the Red Storm. Head coach Joe Tartamella is in his 10th season at St. John's.
UConn will host Providence for Senior Day this Sunday at 2 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion.
