Second-Seeded UConn to Face UCF in NCAA Second Round

STORRS, Conn. – The second-seeded and fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (26-5) continues NCAA Tournament play against No. 7-seed UCF (26-3) in the Second Round on Monday at 9 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. The game will air on ESPN and the UConn Sports Network.
UConn entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed for the fifth time in program history. This is UConn's 33rd overall and straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
UConn is 126-21 (.857) all-time in the NCAA Tournament, which is the best record in the sport. The Huskies are 28-2 (.933) all-time in the Second Round.
UConn has advanced to a record 13-straight NCAA Final Fours. The Huskies lead the nation with 11 National Championships.
UConn opened the NCAA Tournament with an 83-38 win over Mercer in the First Round. Senior Christyn Williams led the Huskies with 13 points and four steals while adding five rebounds. Sophomore Paige Bueckers notched 12 points, five assists and four rebounds. Graduate student Dorka Juhász tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in her first NCAA Tournament game.
UConn held Mercer scoreless in the third quarter. The Huskies had 36 bench points vs. the Bears.
The Huskies and Knights were conference foes for UConn's seven years is the American Athletic Conference. UConn is 13-0 all-time vs. UCF. Former UConn All-American Nykesha Sales is an assistant coach at UCF.
The teams' last meeting came on Feb. 22, 2020, a 66-53 win for UConn.
